Mustang or Thoroughbred

Okay so I kind of think this is sad, X Calibur is calmer then Indy. I worked with both of them today and Indy was prancing around like a nut case and rearing and bucking all over the place. He is so full of himself. And when I got X out to work with him, he was nice and calm, not crazy at all. He didnt really buck or anything and he did very very well with the saddle on. Hopefully in the next few weeks I will finally be able to get on him for the first time. He is coming along very very nicely and if it doesnt rain to to much then maybe it will be almost two weeks that he will be some what rideable. Such an exciting thing. :)

Day.....I don't even remember

So its been quite a while since I have gotten the chance to put any kind of post up on here. First my Camera goes crazy and then my computer crashes. What a set of unfortunate events. And with all that happening and not getting to post anything we got loads and loads of snow, so the horribleness of not having an indoor arena sets in even more. X Calibur seemed to love the snow, and now he's put into a different kind of herd. Lightning and Twilight are gone which is kind of a relief. And now we have his new buddy here, INDY FOREST, The great great grandson of the one and only Secretariat. And Grandson of A.P. Indy. Anyways, so exciting to have such a special horse here, and Indy and X seem to be getting along very very well. Indy may be 16+ hands but Little X and him are best of friends. If they arent with each other outside, they are pacing the fence.

It's a little strange to look outside and see a giant Grey Thoroughbred in the pasture with a little bay Mustang, but it didn't take long to get used to that. X-Calibur is getting closer and closer to being rideable each day, even with the ground completely muddy, I am still able to do some work with him in the barn and right outside of the barn. He's such a sweetheart.

Day 2

So today was pretty good overall. X did very well on the lunge line, and had very little problems, it was the first day he was lunged with a saddle on, here at the farm, and he did pretty well overall, he spooked a couple times when the saddle was put on but overall he did wonderful. Don't think he's quite ready to get a foot put into the stirrup, but he's on his way there. Maybe in the next week he will be rideable, my guess, yes he will be, he is a smart horse and knows what he's doing, and he has pulled his way to the top of the herd, and is now the head of the herd, and hates Lightning. X and Twilight have bonded together, and they hate the poor appy. But it happens when there's a Mustang in the herd. :)

Day 1

I went out to the barn this morning and went into the tack stall and got the grooming box and lead line. I looked over to his stall and X was all the way in the back of the stall, what a silly horse. He was very happy to see me and walked right up to me and let me attach the lead line to his halter.
He was in quite a hurry to get outside, he just wanted to go say hi to the other horses, and he got to, but Lightning didn't seem too happy to have him in the pasture with him and Twilight. Something tells me X may be at the bottom of the herd, although the herd is going to shrink in about a day or two since, Lightning and Twilight will be leaving, but then he will get to meet his new buddy Indy, the 16 hand Thoroughbred coming on Sunday, how exciting, X is going to have a new friend.
He did pretty well on the lunge line and his trot and canter are just gorgeous. Im looking forward to riding him within the month of January. He is going to be fun, and I can only imagine how beautiful he will look in the Spring when his winter coat sheds away. And Oh my thats going to be a lot of horse hair to clean up. :)

X Calibur's First Night In The Barn

The Drive home from picking X was pretty uneventful, no problems what so ever. It was a long-ish drive but it was well worth it. As soon as we pulled into the driveway there was a round of whinnies from Lightning and Twilight welcoming the new arrival. X Calibur whinnied right back.
X Calibur went into his stall and started chomping away on his hay right away. Lightning and Twilight got brought into the barn and Twilight and X hit it off right away, no problems. That is until I brought X out to take a picture and take him over to meet lightning, then Twilight decided she wanted to follow, and busted down the wall between her and X's stall, such horse power in such a small and young horse. X was a bit surprised to see her out there, but eventually ignored her.
After the whole ordeal with Twilight, The other two were put out in the pasture and I was forced to put X into Lightning's stall since I couldn't exactly put him back in his stall since there was wood all over the place. The light's went out and they were all happy.
Overall a pretty calm night for X and I.
